One of Europe's most lovely capitals, and also one of its most vibrant, Prague is an enticing blend of old and new, a highly popular tourist destination as well as an important regional commercial hub.

Getting there
Ruzyne (420 220 113 314; www.prg.aero) – Prague's international air hub – lies 17 kilometres (30 minutes by road) north of the city. International trains usually use Praha hlavni nadrazi station (420 972 241 152; www.cdrail.cz). Road links to neighbouring countries and the rest of Europe are also well developed.

Weather
Prague's temperate climate ensures there are four seasons, each lasting roughly three months. Winters are chilly (the average January temperature is -2°C) although snow is rare, while summers are not too hot, with the thermometer nudging 20 °C. July brings the most rain (around 80mm).

Hotlines Besides being the easiest way to climb Petrin Hill, the funicular is also terrific fun to ride.It starts at the Újezd tram stop in Malá Strana.
