New York really has it all. Whether you are a fashionista or a foodie, a theatre - goer or an art lover, you'll find everything and then some in New York. Be prepared to be swept away by this city that is like no other. Spend a day here and you'll be singing "I want to be a part of it, New York, New York."
Getting there
Three airports service the city. John F Kennedy International (1 718 244 4444; www.kennedyairport.com), La Guardia (1 718 533 3400; www.laguardiaairport.com), and Newark Liberty International Airport (1 973 961 6000; www.newarkairport.com) handle the hundreds of daily flights that make New York the transportation hub of the United States' eastern seaboard. Amtrak (www.amtrak.com) trains run from Penn Station along the East Coast and the Midwest. And multiple services out of the Port Authority Bus Terminal (1 212 564 8484; www.panynj.gov) cover the immediate region and the rest of the country.
Weather
New York is beautiful in all seasons. Winter is a great time to visit. Remember to bundle up because the temperatures can dip to -5oC (23oF) in the winter. There's a fair amount of snowfall too. Spring brings a combination of sunny days and light rain showers. Summers sizzle, with temperatures rising to 35oC (94oF). Autumn is pleasant and bursts with yellow and orange foliage throughout the city.
